Pinewoods is open from mid-March until the new year, so we’ve collected together some of the best events from across the county taking place during this time in 2025. Whether you’re a local, someone who returns to Norfolk each year, or a first-timer, there’s sure to be something to tempt you in the list below, and that’s beside the stunning beaches, beautiful villages, birdlife, attractions and excellent foodie scene!

Flowers popping up, the clocks changing and a bit more of a spring in our steps – here’s what you can do in Norfolk this March.
Visit Holkham Hall and Walled Garden
Holkham Hall and Walled Garden reopen their doors in late March, ready to welcome visitors. Explore the state rooms, wander around the gardens, cosy up in the café and enjoy the views of the parkland.
Norfolk Antiques Fair
Taking place at the Norfolk Showground on 22nd and 23rd March, the Norfolk Antiques Fair is a must visit for any fans of vintage, retro and yesteryear’s furniture and antiquities!
What’s on in Norfolk in April 2025
Easter holidays and the springtime sunshine make April a popular time to enjoy Norfolk. Here are a few ideas of what’s on in Norfolk during April.
Easter at Holkham
Plans are still under wraps for Holkham Hall’s easter event for families, but it’s sure to be an eggcellent, fun-filled event! Last year’s included crafts, trails, storytelling, a performance and a junk orchestra! Keep up to date at holkham.co.uk/whats-on to find out about this year’s plans.
Burnham Market Horse Trials
The Burnham Market Horse Trials are taking place on 12th April, just a few miles west of Pinewoods. Expect horse racing, trade stands and an exciting day out.
Spring Market
The Holkham Spring Market welcomes over 50 artisan producers to the Lady Elizabeth Wing, with plenty of goodies to browse, sample and buy. Dates are TBC, but we’ll update you once they’re out!
Creake Abbey Spring Gift Fair
On Saturday 19th April, you can shop a range of lovely things from Norfolk producers at Creake Abbey.
What’s on in Norfolk in May 2025
May brings two bank holidays and a half term too! Here are a few events in Norfolk this month.
Sheringham Viking Festival
On Saturday 26th April 2025, the Vikings are heading to Sheringham! This free event celebrates the seaside town’s history and Viking connections. With a battle reenactment, a parody, a Viking village and even the burning of a boat, it’s an entertaining day out for all ages.
Folk on the Pier
Head to the Pavilion Theatre in Cromer on 9th, 10th or 11th May 2025 for the year’s Folk on the Pier. This celebration of folk music attracts some of the UK’s best known folk-rock artists.

City of Ale Festival
The Norwich City of Ale Festival typically takes place from late May to late June, with over 50 participating pubs across the city centre and suburbs.
Half term at Holkham

Norfolk & Norwich Festival
Between 9th and 25th May 2025, the Norfolk and Norwich Festival offers live music, circus, workshops, dance, literature and outdoor events. Transforming the county’s public spaces, performance venues, parks, forests and beaches, the festival promises to bring “people together to experience the same brilliant and inspirational events.”

What’s on in Norfolk in June 2025
Long, light evenings, a summer haze and less hustle and bustle than the school holiday season – June is a wonderful time to come and enjoy a stay at Pinewoods and to explore North Norfolk. Here are our top reasons to stay at Pinewoods in June, and below are some exciting events taking place in Norfolk.
Forest Live: Live music in Thetford Forest
High Lodge in Thetford Forest is a great spot for walking, running and cycling between the pines. It’s also become a spot for music, through Forest Live! Teaming up with Forestry England, these events help fundraise and protect the UK’s forests.

Royal Norfolk Show
With 700 trade stands, 3,000 animals, a huge food and drink offering, live and hundreds of attractions, the Royal Norfolk Show is a highlight in the county’s calendar! It’s taking place on 25th and 26th June in 2025, at the Norfolk Showground near Norwich. Book tickets and find out more.
Norwich Wine Week
Appreciate wine? Then a visit to Norwich Wine Week in June might be a ‘grape’ day out for you! Dates are still TBC, but you can expect winemakers, merchants, live music and guided tastings. norwichwineweek.co.uk

Legends Concerts
Friday 11th-Sunday 13th July 2025 marks this year’s Legends Concerts at Cromer Hall! Expect the best hits from across the decades with talented tribute bands singing the greatest songs from ABBA, Take That, Taylor Swift, Bon Jovi, Queen, Elton John. Plus, the Beyond the Barricade performers bring their musical theatre concert tour too.

Outlaw Triathlon
The Outlaw Half Holkham weekend will take place on 5th-6th July 2025. Over the weekend, there’ll be the Outlaw Half triathlon, an Aquabike, a Gravel Sprint triathlon, a 10km run and a ‘Future Outlaw’ run for children. So if you’re wanting to commit to a physical challenge in 2025, this might be a good option for you! Camping is available within Holkham Park, but if you’d rather sleep in a real bed, Pinewoods is just down the road!
Outdoor Cinema at Holkham
You can also expect a number of outdoor cinema screenings at Holkham in July 2025. We’re still waiting for the line-up, but any evening involving a flick and a picnic sounds good to us! holkham.co.uk/whats-on
Holt Festival
Holt Festival returns from Saturday 12th to Saturday 26th July 2025 with music, art, comedy and conversation. The line-up hasn’t yet been released, but keep an eye on holtfestival.org for more details.
The Burnhams Flower Show, Fete and Carnival
“The Burnhams Flower Show, Fete & Carnival is a traditional village show to which everyone is welcome.” It’s been running for over a century, and while only locals can exhibit for the competitions, anyone can go to watch and enjoy the show. The Burnhams are all lovely villages for a walk or mooch around the shops, too. 2025 dates are not yet confirmed. burnhamsflowershow.co.uk
Blakeney Regatta and Greasy Pole!
Head to Blakeney Quay for the annual regatta for a day out that’s sure to be entertaining! The regatta takes place over the whole weekend, but perhaps more focus is on the quay-side activities and competitions, including the legendary greasy pole challenge, gilly (crab) catching, and sandcastle building. The event will likely take place on Saturday 26th-Sunday 27th July, but check here for the release of the 2025 dates.

Feast in the Park
Another Holkham event, which is great because it’s just a walk, cycle or short drive away! Feast in the Park sees Norfolk’s favourite street food pop-ups head to Holkham’s stunning parkland. It’s usually on daily throughout the summer holidays in July and August, but stay tuned for confirmed 2025 dates.
Potty Festival
Sheringham’s Potty Festival will be taking place on 5th and 6th July. This festival is a celebration of Morris dancing and folk music, and has been a popular event for residents and tourists for over 30 years. Morris dancing sides (groups) from across the UK head to Sheringham for the weekend, so there’s plenty to keep you entertained! Find out more at pottyfestival.com.
What’s on in Norfolk in August 2025
With school holidays in full swing in August, North Norfolk welcomes many a visitor. And with so much fun to be had, we’re not surprised! Here’s what’s happening in Norfolk in August 2025.
Gone Wild Festival
The ultimate family festival returns to Holkham Park from 7th-10th August 2025. Adventurer Bear Grylls and former Royal Navyfriend Oli Mason created the festival, which aims to bring families together to enjoy the outdoors, challenge themselves and try new things. There’s also live music to enjoy in the evenings, with 2024 seeing McFly, Sam Ryder, Example and Dick & Dom on the stage. Information about Gone Wild 2025 can be found here. Heritage Live
Heritage Live brings world-class performers to the Royal Sandringham Estate, roughly 20 miles from Pinewoods. Enjoy great music in a beautiful location.

Sunday 17th August: Michael Bublé and special guests
Wells Carnival
A highlight in the Wells-next-the-Sea calendar, and just a short walk away from Pinewoods! Wells Carnival will take place between Friday 1st August – Sunday 10th August in 2025, and has been running for over 100 years. It’s a week full of events for everyone, regardless of age, including live music, a fete, family-friendly activities, the crowning of the Carnival King and Queen, and it culminates in a parade.

Classic Ibiza at Blickling
On Saturday 2nd August 2025, Stately House Music returns to Blickling! This is an open-air celebration of Ibiza-inspired house music, involving a 32-piece orchestra, headline DJs and live singers. Blickling Ibiza is a well-loved event in the Norfolk calendar for those who love a boogie!
North Norfolk Food & Drink Festival
A popular festival welcoming artisan producers of food and beverages, from freshly grown produce and meat to cakes and bakes, plus artisan beer, juices and more. There’s also street food pop-ups, children’s activities and even a live cookery theatre!
The North Norfolk Food & Drink Festival is taking place on 30th and 31st August 2025 in the Holkham Walled Garden.
Run Sandringham 24
Fancy a challenge? Run Sandringham 24 sees participants take on as many laps as they can within a 24 hour period! You can register alone or in a pair or team of up to 12 runners. Join in on 8th-10th August 2025.
Aylsham Show 2025
Taking place on bank holiday Monday 25th August 2025, the Aylsham Show includes plenty of fun family activities, entertainment, food, farming and trade stands. It always promises to be a fun day out for any age.

The school holidays may be over, but September still sees a super line-up of events. Here’s what’s on during September 2025.
Sheringham and Holt 1940s Weekend
The 1940s weekend is planned for Friday 19th-Sunday 21st September 2025, with activities in both Sheringham and Holt. This is a celebration of the 1940s, inviting attendees to remember the past and enjoy the music, dancing, fashion, vehicles and community spirit shown during the decade. Expect window displays, a vehicle display and parade, the ration book competition and plenty of 40s outfits. You can even take the steam train between the towns!

Holkham Garden and Outdoor Living Fair
The Holkham Garden and Outdoor Living Fair is the perfect place for the plant lovers among us! It typically takes place in late September, but dates for 2025 are yet to be confirmed. With plants, crafts and decorative items for your garden or outdoor space, and talks and tours too, there’s planty (!) to interest!

Brancaster Staithe Sea Shanty Festival
Coming up on 12th-14th September 2025, the Brancaster Staithe Sea Shanty Festival celebrates the maritime traditions of the North Norfolk coast, with sea shanties, performances, community and coastal charm in abundance. It takes place across multiple venues in Brancaster, including The Jolly Sailors, The White Horse, Brancaster Staithe Village Hall and St Mary’s Church in Burnham Deepdale.
What’s on in Norfolk in October 2025
Are you ready to get spooked?! There’s plenty for Halloween and half term in Norfolk. Plus, the end of October is the month many North Norfolk attractions – such as Holkham Hall, Houghton Hall and Sandringham – close their doors for the season.
Primevil
Quite possibly Norfolk’s scariest Halloween event, Primevil – which takes place at Roarr! in Lenwade – will be taking place during the spooky season. Dates aren’t confirmed as yet, but you can find out more here. It’s for adults and children aged 12+ and promises a haunting Halloween!
Halloween at Holkham
Holkham’s Halloween and October half term offering is aimed at families, typically including stories, bewitching crafts, trails and pumpkin carving. They’re finalising their spooky schedule at the moment, stay tuned!
Halloween at Pensthorpe
Over at Pensthorpe near Fakenham, there’s usually a fun, family-friendly Halloween day out too. Again, the plans for 2025 aren’t yet released, but keep an eye on their website here.

The countdown to Christmas is on!
Wells Christmastide
Did you know Father Christmas enjoys a boat ride? That’s how he travels to Wells-next-the-Sea each Christmastide! People gather on the quayside, enjoy the switching on of the lights, entertainment, a procession, Father Christmas’ arrival by boat and a fireworks display too. Over the weekend, there’s usually community carol singing too. The date for 2025 isn’t yet revealed, but find out more here.
Christmas Craft, Food and Gift Fair at Sandringham
Sandringham’s Craft, Food and Gift Fair is a great place to kick off your Christmas shopping during November. With craft stalls, food halls, gifts and clothing, you’re sure to find plenty to tempt you. Dates not yet released. Find out more here.
Luminate Sandringham
Also at Sandringham, Luminate is an enchanting winter light trail through the trees, with a sweet treat to enjoy at the end too. It typically runs from mid-late November until Christmas. Learn about Luminate on Sandringham’s website.
Winter Wonderland
Norwich’s Winter Wonderland, which takes place at the showground between November and January, is the place to go for festive cheer. Expect ice skating, rides, Santa’s grotto, live music, market stalls, and of course, mulled wine!
Pensthorpe Christmas Market
The annual Pensthorpe Christmas Market welcomes shoppers, stallholders, crafters and producers to the reserve to get into the festive spirit. Dates are not yet set, but you can find out more about Pensthorpe here.
Holkham Hall by Candlelight Tours
As seen on Channel 4, Holkham Hall’s Candlelight Tours are a well-loved tradition here in Norfolk. Starting in late November and running until the new year, you’ll find Holkham Hall’s state rooms decked and adorned in awe-inspiring ways. Thursford Christmas Spectacular
An extravaganza of song, dance, humour and music, the Christmas Spectacular at Thursford is a festive variety show made up of a huge cast! Well-loved by locals, this is sure to impress if you love a show!
The Norfolk Lights Express
Fancy a ride on an illuminated steam train? This certainly is a magical experience! You’ll be taken from Sheringham to Holt, then back, with the scenery outside lit up with enchanting displays. 2025 dates aren’t released yet. More information is available here.
Pensthorpe’s North Norfolk Pole Experience
Typically starting at the end of November and running on various dates throughout December, enjoy a visit to Santa, his helpers and Mrs Claus at Pensthorpe! In 2024, this included reindeer food making and other activities too. Find out more at pensthorpe.com
Cromer Pier Christmas Show
The award-winning Cromer Pier Christmas Show promises to get you into the Christmas spirit! Running throughout late November and December, the show is suitable for audiences of all ages, with matinee and evening performances to choose from. Find out more here.

One of the most popular Christmas markets in Norfolk, Holkham’s Christmas Market sees over 60 producers across the Lady Elizabeth Wing and in chalets outside too. Christmas at Wroxham Barns
Wroxham Barns offers a wonderful family-focused day out during Christmastime. Santa’s there, as well as Mrs Claus of course, and some cheeky elves too.
An Audience with Father Christmas at Holkham
Enjoy a journey through the beautifully decorated Holkham Hall, meeting Father Christmas, Mother Christmas and the elves along the way in the Saloon, with the biggest Christmas tree you’ve ever seen! Father Christmas’ visits to Holkham book up quickly, so keep an eye on Holkham’s website for more details for 2025.
Christmas Day, Boxing Day and New Year sea dips
If you’re feeling brave, why not join in with a festive sea dip?!
The safest way to do this is part of an organised group – you can join in with one of these below which typically take place each year in the morning, collecting donations for a charity.
